Sampdoria director Carlo Osti sees the number of players out of contract at the club as a positive. ‘It can act as motivation.’

“This is the first year we’ve had quite a few players whose contracts are running down. I think it can act as motivation for them to earn confirmation in the squad and for the club to evaluate who should continue to be part of this project,” Osti told Sky Sport Italia.
Among those guaranteed a contract are 25-year-old Tommaso Augello, who put in a commanding performance against Lazio after a goal and assist, just a couple of years after playing in the amateur leagues.
“Augello is a wonderful fairy-tale of Italian football, as he arrived late in Serie A and we saw at Spezia he had the character to step up to the top flight. There are many other talented local players who we believe have potential, as too often our clubs tend to focus on foreign imports.”
