Club Brugge coach Philippe Clement insists Champions League opponents Lazio are ‘nonetheless very strong’ even without half their squad.

The fixture kicks off on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT in Bruges, but the Aquile have left behind the likes of Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Lucas Leiva and Thomas Strakosha for reasons that remain unclear.

“Don’t worry, we know all the Lazio players, even those who might be playing now because of Coronavirus,” Brugge coach Clement said in his press conference.

“We too are waiting for the results of some swab tests. We’ve got to live with this situation, prepare a Plan B and that sort of thing.”

It’s a blow for the Biancocelesti, who had started their Champions League campaign with a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

“My staff and I watched all Lazio’s games this season, so we know them very well. I think the players who do take to the field will be very strong, and it’s still Lazio.

“We have to focus on our own football, play our game, and then we’ll see what happens.”
