The Colombian scored a brace in the second half and helped turn things around after a Dusan Tadic penalty and Lassina Traore goal had given the Dutch opponents a healthy lead before the break.

Zapata praised Atalanta on Sky Sport Italia after the 2-2 match in Bergamo and continued to talk with the club’s official website about the ‘complicated’ game against the Eredivisie giants.

“I’m happy for the goals, of course,” Zapata told the club’s official channel. “But it would have been even better if they helped us win.

“It was a complicated game, but we played our football and that’s the good thing. It wasn’t easy to make up for the gap. In the first half, we were unlucky too, but in the second half we held out and were close to winning.

“Both goals were nice, I’m happy because I keep scoring.”

Zapata has scored three goals in two Champions League games, adding to his two goals in five Serie A outings this term.
