Parma announce that another player has tested positive for COVID-19, after he had originally recovered.
The Ducali play Pescara in the Coppa Italia today and therefore had swabs as per protocol 48 hours before kick-off.
“Parma Calcio 1913 can announce that the round of testing undertaken 24 hours ahead of today’s Coppa Italia fixture with Pescara returned negative results for every member of the team group.
“The only exception was one player, who tested positive and will therefore be unavailable for today’s game.
“This is a second positive test for a player that is totally asymptomatic; he will remain in self-isolation and will be subject to further tests in the next 48 hours.”
Although he was not named, a separate statement noted that striker Roberto Inglese had pulled out of the squad for the game and was replaced by a youth team member.
Parma had at least seven positive COVID-19 tests between players and staff, but did not name them.
The statement makes clear this was a player who had seemingly tested negative, only to become positive again.
