Bologna have lost three on the bounce in Serie A, but arrive after a positive experience against Reggina in the Coppa Italia, but Mihajlovic concedes they ‘have to change something’.

“We work trying to improve what we have done, hoping to recover the injured and continuing to have faith in the work,” he said.

“Surely we have to change something in our play and in our behaviour. In the last three games, we have created more and have been more united than our opponents, but we have always lost.

“When you always play the same way, you always get the same result. We don’t have to change mentality, but add something, both individually and as a team.

“I think about communication: it’s essential to talk to each other on the pitch, it helps to feel stronger.

“We need someone who gets angry or gives courage to the team. Then we need to improve our concentration and personality.

“We haven’t lacked the latter, but these are the three aspects to improve.”

Mihajlovic admitted Bologna have struggled towards the end of the games, mostly due to the long list of absentees.

“In every match, there are more matches… up to the 70th minute you might see the match changes, even due to substitutions.

“Those who entered the last matches did well but must also remember how many and which players we miss due to injury.

“We are not equipped like the big teams. If you take away four players, possible starters, things change.

“Now [Federico] Santander has joined too. We are talking about long-term injuries, apart from [Gary] Medel. And then there could be cases of COVID.

“In this emergency we all have to do more. The shots depend on quality, habit and luck. Then, when we shoot and score goals, they cancel them as well. It’s a moment like this, but we are confident and ready to improve.”
