Manchester United are interested in signing Milan creative midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, claim Tuttosport, as his contract talks continue to stall.
The Turkey international’s current deal expires in June 2021 and negotiations for an extension have hit problems.
According to Tuttosport newspaper, his agent is demanding €6.5-7m per year wages, which would put him in line with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
That is beyond the Rossoneri’s budget, giving Manchester United a way in to secure the 26-year-old at a cut-price fee.
He could even technically agree terms with another club from February and join them as a free agent at the end of the season.
Milan paid €23.3m plus bonuses to sign Calhanoglu from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2017.
