It was a dramatic and hugely entertaining match with a comeback from 2-0 down, a missed penalty, woodwork rattled, heroic saves, disallowed goals and a stoppage-time equaliser.

Milan had not been in a trailing situation at all in Serie A this season, but found themselves 2-0 down within 19 minutes, as Antonin Barak bundled over the line after Federico Ceccherini’s header hit the bar, then Mattia Zaccagni’s effort was deflected in off Davide Calabria.

Franck Kessie’s goal also took a decisive deflection off Giangiacomo Magnani, then Ibrahimovic took centre stage with a missed penalty, a header off the bar and forcing several remarkable saves from Marco Silvestri.

Calabria thought he’d equalised, but it was disallowed using VAR for Ibra’s handball, so the 39-year-old made up for it by nodding in the 93rd-minute goal.
