Hellas Verona have confirmed Darko Lazovic has tested positive for coronavirus during international duty with Serbia.
The club announced the Serbian underwent the swab test during the retreat with his national team and the results came back positive for COVID-19.
Serbia face Russia tonight and Lazovic has been isolated and will therefore not be able to play in the UEFA Nations League match.
“Hellas Verona FC announce that Darko Lazovic tested positive for COVID-19 following the latest tests carried out in the Serbian national team’s retreat,” the club wrote in a statement.
“The player was promptly placed in isolation and will now follow the procedures in the health protocol.”
Hellas Verona, who sit eight in Serie A after seven games, will have to cope without Lazovic against Sassuolo on Sunday.
The 30-year-old left-midfielder has played five times in Serie A this term, contributing one goal in the process.
