Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has blasted former Milan owner Yonghong Li: ‘I have real money’ and added: ‘The Franchi should be demolished and rebuilt, like the Yankee Stadium.’
Commisso spoke about the appointment of Cesare Prandelli and discussed the future of the club.
“We must also take into account the general context, I have already invested €300m in two years and the Covid broke out. Our wage bill grown by 40% and revenues have fallen, in just two years Mediacom will have to pay €50m,” he told Lady Radio.
“Without revenues we can’t compete with those who have €400-500m incomes. I can’t put €50 or €100m every year. This will never be done.”
Commisso is pushing to demolish the Artemio Franchi and build a new stadium.
“The stadium must be demolished and built again, as it was done for Yankee Stadium. If they want to use my money [that’s what I want to do], otherwise, with their money, they can do what they want.
“There’s too much criticism, too many parrot columnists. Whatever we do is not good, I’m disappointed by the journalists. I think the fans still love Fiorentina, I’m just asking for time,” he continued.
“It’s a historic time when many clubs are in danger of going into bankruptcy. I can guarantee that as long as there is Rocco here no one will have to fear that Fiorentina go bankrupt.”
