Real: Crisis in attack ahead of Inter?

Karim Benzema reportedly sat out of Friday’s training and Luka Jovic has tested positive for COVID-19, as Real Madrid face a potential crisis in attack.

Marca reports Benzema, who has been in great shape in recent weeks, picked up a knock in the 4-1 defeat to Valencia at Mestalla and has not recovered from the muscular discomfort.

Real Madrid face Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday and the French forward’s injury update leaves Mariano Diaz as the only recognised forward fit for fight against the Yellow Submarine.

Serbia international Jovic started against Russia on Wednesday and has, like Hellas Verona midfielder Darko Lazovic and Lazio midfielder Sergej Milikovic-Savic, returned from international duty positive for coronavirus.

Inter host Real Madrid at San Siro on Wednesday next week and the visitors are sweating over Benzema’s conditions ahead of the return leg in Italy.

Benzema scored the opener in Real’s 3-2 win at the Estadio di Stefano on November 3.
