“Milan are in great shape right now and if they are top of the table, it’s because they are doing well,” the Spanish midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.
“They are unbeaten in 19 Serie A games and that says so much about how well they are working. It’s a very difficult match for us, but also a very important one. We are working on ways to hurt Milan and bring the three points home.”
Considering a victory would put Napoli level on points with the Rossoneri, can this be seen as an early Scudetto showdown?
“You never know, anything can happen in football. We have a strong squad, are focused and if we continue like this, we can be up there at the end of the season.
“Everyone asks me about Gattuso, whether he’s always angry or shouting, and I can only say good things. He’s a real man, he thinks only of us and if there’s a difficult moment, he is right by your side. He’s both a coach and a friend to his players.”
Fabian Ruiz assures reports of a potential exit towards Real Madrid or Barcelona are not in his mind.
“I am ever more in love with Naples. Before coming here, I had heard bad things about the city, but the motto is that when you see Naples, you cry twice: once when you see it and once when you leave. I am sure that’ll be the case for me too.
“At the start, I cried because I was alone and didn’t speak any Italian, but my teammates gave me a big hand. Day by day, I get increasingly enamoured with Naples. The people are passionate, they love you and that feeling is wonderful.”
