The number of COVID-19 cases in the Uruguay squad has reportedly climbed to 16, prompting local health authorities to fine the Football Federation.
There was an outbreak of Coronavirus at the Uruguay camp during the break for international duty, which has spread now to Serie A.
Cagliari defender Diego Godin tested positive, with his teammate Nahitan Nandez kept in quarantine as a precaution too.
It’s reported there are now 16 cases stemming from the World Cup qualifiers, including 10 players, and they could yet grow.
In response, an investigation was launched into the medical protocol used by the Uruguayan Football Federation and a fine handed down for their evident shortcomings.
