Andrea Pirlo blocked the sale of three Juventus players last summer, including Merih Demiral who was wanted by Leicester, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The former midfielder begun his coaching career replacing Maurizio Sarri on Juventus’ bench last summer.
The highly-reliable transfer journalist reports on Calciomercato.com he refused to sell three players who could have left the Old Lady.
Adrien Rabiot had offers from the Premier League but Pirlo is an admirer of the France international who remained at the Allianz Stadium.
“He doesn’t even know how strong he is. For me he is a champion and we are working a lot with him, also on a mental level,” Pirlo said after Juventus’ 2-0 win against Cagliari.
Merih Demiral was also a transfer target of a Premier League club as Leicester had reportedly placed a bid that was rejected by the Old Lady.
Another defender, Danilo, had been sounded out but Pirlo was happy to keep him in Turin.
The former Manchester City defender is playing in a new position as third centre-back this season and is the only Juventus player to have played every game so far this season.
