Alvaro Morata explains how he has matured as a player after another Juventus winner. ‘When I was 22, I paid attention only when the ball came near me.’
The Spain international came off the bench to score the 92nd-minute header to beat Ferencvaros 2-1 in the Champions League, securing their place in the Round of 16.
“It was a complicated match, we know all games are difficult in the Champions League. The win is what counts, because the trouble with the Champions League is that if you have a bit of an off night, you risk going out,” the striker told Sky Sport Italia.
Morata has improved immensely and almost created a wonderful goal for Cristiano Ronaldo with a through ball, then struck the woodwork himself.
“Nothing changed in me, I said many times, you learn throughout your career. I am a more complete player now. When I was 22, I paid attention only when the ball came near me, but now I remain more focused and every ball can be decisive.
“I had another chance today that hit the upright. I was fortunate on the goal, unlucky on the earlier chance, so it all balances out.”
