Atalanta have announced Aleksej Miranchuk has tested positive for COVID-19 and the team will carry out new molecular swabs.
La Dea received bad news after the tests carried out on Thursday, as the Russia international tested positive for coronavirus ahead of their match against Hellas Verona this Saturday.
“Following the tests carried out yesterday, Aleksej Miranchuk tested positive for COVID-19,” the club wrote in a statement.
“The player was promptly subjected to isolation in compliance with the procedures provided for by the health protocol.
“Late in the evening, the team will be subjected to new molecular tests. The club immediately activated the procedures from the protocol in force and informed the relevant authorities.”
The 25-year-old, who arrived from Lokomotiv Moscow in September 2020, has played twice in Serie A, contributing one goal in the League.
Miranchuk has played twice in the Champions League, scoring once against FC Midtjylland in the 4-0 win from the opening round.
