Leonardo Bonucci insists Juventus gifted Torino the first half and it made them realise they ‘will get nowhere’ without heart and soul.

The Bianconeri were losing 1-0 to a Nicolas Nkoulou effort from a corner, with Juan Cuadrado’s equaliser disallowed because Bonucci was offside and interfering with play.

He made up for it, though, scoring the last-gasp winner after a Weston McKennie header for 2-1.

“With all due respect for Torino, what they did in the first half was only because we weren’t switched on,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were so slow, lost every challenge, gave the ball away repeatedly. They threatened on the counter because we allowed them to.

“In the second half, we acted the way we need to in every game: strong into the tackle, move the ball quickly, players moving off the ball.

“We are men, that’s what counts. I don’t need to tell you what we said, but we all know that what we brought out of ourselves in the second half is what we need in every single match.

“It’s teamwork that allowed us to win over the years and we rediscovered that in the second half tonight. My goal allows us to win and feel more confident, but if we don’t bring out of ourselves that desire, that heart, that determination to overcome every obstacle, we can sit here talking all day and get nowhere.”
