Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani reiterated he previously turned down moves to Inter and Juventus due to his connection with Napoli.

The Uruguayan striker, who moved to Manchester United on a free transfer in October, scored 104 goals in 138 games for the Partenopei.

He arrived from Palermo for €12m in July 2011 and spent two seasons with the Azzurri before he was signed by Paris Saint-Germain in July 2013.

Cavani reiterated that he has rejected offers from both Juventus and Inter later in his career, because of his love for Napoli.

“Only thanks,” Cavani told MondoNapoli. “I will always be grateful to them.

“It is for this reason that I said no to many Italian clubs, including Juventus, who called me often, and Inter too.

“I couldn’t make such a gesture to the Neapolitans. If I think of Naples, I think of joy. I know that I have done so much for them and they continue to pay homage to me with all this."
