Frosinone’s upcoming Serie B match against Pisa has been postponed due to a COVID outbreak, just 24 hours after they drew with 14 players unavailable.

Alessandro Nesta’s team had played a 1-1 draw with Pordenone on Sunday with half the 28-man squad out of action due to positive COVID tests.

In theory, Frosinone could’ve played their one ‘bonus’ and requested the game be postponed due to the outbreak.

In theory, Frosinone could’ve played their one ‘bonus’ and requested the game be postponed due to the outbreak.

However, they opted to take to the field anyway and picked up a precious point.

Now Frosinone have activated their option to postpone the upcoming game, set for Wednesday December 30, against Pisa.

It is not clear if more cases have since emerged, but there had been 13 until a 14th tested positive on Sunday morning.

This is a growing problem in sport, as tonight’s Premier League match between Manchester City and Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton has been postponed due to a COVID outbreak in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
