Former Inter defender Maicon has arrived at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport ahead of his move to Serie D Sona while his son will play in the academy of the club.
Maicon played 248 games with the Nerazzurri between 2006 and 2012. He then joined Manchester City and Roma before moving back to his native country Brazil.
The 39-year-old has now reached an agreement with Sona, a Serie D side in the Region of Veneto. The player arrived at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport this morning.
“I am happy to be back to Italy together with my son, I am ready for this new adventure,” he told reporters.
His 15-year-old son will play in the club’s academy.
“It’s a great satisfaction to sign such a great player, I don't think it will happen again for a Serie D side,” Sona’s director of football Claudio Ferrarese said.
“I am proud of this transfer, I thank Tiago De Souza and the club for helping me close the deal.”
