President Oreste Vigorito feels Benevento are showing they have the ‘right environment’ and says the secret is the relationship between Filippo Inzaghi and Pasquale Foggia.

Benevento picked up another away win against Cagliari, their fourth this term, and sit 10th with 21 points after 16 games.

“We are playing a different tournament. We have cherished past experience and we restarted form a record in Serie B.

“We have kept most of the players who brought us to Serie A by leading an amazing championship and that says a lot.

“We are going beyond what we thought, and we all deserve these points. The four away wins? We enjoy the records…”

Vigorito was asked if he’s planning to dive into the transfer market for a new striker.

“If I think of the match we just won at Cagliari, I feel like we don’t need anyone,” he said. “But it’s possible that someone will arrive.

“Our sporting director, Pasquale Foggia, is very active. Last summer, there were some high-level players who didn’t want to come here.

“Now, however, they understand that there’s the right environment here.”

The patron praised coach Filippo Inzaghi and said the great relationship between him and the sporting director.

“It’s our secret. Indeed, the real secret is the feeling that has been created between him and Foggia. They played together,” the President continued.

“Pasquale was convinced of Inzaghi. We have a lot of respect for roles and this understanding is important.

“I told Pippo that if I sack him, I’ll put him back on the pitch, but as a centre-forward. Think that when he trains with the team, he still scores certain goals, and you should see how he celebrates.”
