As Junior Firpo asks to stay in Spain, Milan look elsewhere for a left-back, including Nuno Mendes, Iago and Matias Vina.

The Rossoneri have already been very active on the January transfer market, bringing in Mario Mandzukic as a free agent and Fikayo Tomori on loan with option to buy from Chelsea.

They are still seeking a left-back to act as understudy to Theo Hernandez.

They are still seeking a left-back to act as understudy to Theo Hernandez.

It is because this wouldn’t be a first choice role, along with his new fatherhood and desire to remain in Spain, that is reportedly prompting Barcelona defender Junior Firpo to reject the Milan loan.

The Corriere dello Sport points to other options, including Palmeiras talent Matias Vina, Augsburg’s Brazilian Iago and Jordan Amavi of Olympique Marseille.

The favourite would be Nuno Mendes, an 18-year-old product of the Sporting CP academy.

Despite his tender age, he already has four caps for Portugal at Under-21 level and would be reunited with Rafael Leao.
