On this day, 18 years ago, Daniele De Rossi played his first Serie A game for Roma against Como.
On January 25, the Giallorossi lost 2-0 to Como, but despite the poor result it was a historic day for La Lupa.
De Rossi made his first appearance in the League with the Giallorossi and he went on to wear the shirt for 17 seasons.
The midfielder played 459 games in Serie A for Roma and his last came against Parma on May 26, 2019, before he moved for a short stint at Boca Juniors in Argentina.
The 37-year-old, capped 117 times by Italy, helped Roma win the Coppa Italia twice and picked up one Supercoppa Italiana. He was voted Serie A Player of the Year in 2008-09, but his biggest achievement came with the Azzurri, as he helped Marcello Lippi’s men to the World Cup trophy in 2006.
