Sky Sport Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano reports Chelsea ‘never contacted Max Allegri’ as Thomas Tuchel is on the verge of moving to Stamford Bridge to replace Frank Lampard.
Allegri, who won 11 trophies in his five-year spell at Juventus, was sacked by the Old Lady in the summer of 2019.
He had been linked with a number of top European clubs over the last year, but somehow he hasn’t returned to action yet.
PSG, Inter and Manchester United were rumoured to be possible destinations for the Italian coach who is now reported to be a target of Roma, should Paulo Fonseca face sacking.
According to Sky Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea, who have now sacked their head coach Frank Lampard, have never contacted Allegri to offer him the job at Stamford Bridge.
Former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is expected to move to South London to replace the Chelsea legend.
Allegri has never been in touch with Chelsea board in the last weeks. Thomas Tuchel has been offered many times and he’s the favourite as German manager - also to ‘help’ Werner and Havertz. Lampard is gone. #CFC #Chelsea https://t.co/JBjeVnCWMd— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 25, 2021
Lampard was appointed Chelsea boss to replace Maurizio Sarri in 2019, but failed to win a single piece of silverware and registered a worst point average than the former Juventus coach.
