Nicolò Barella insists Inter ‘proved we are at Milan’s level, in fact, we are stronger’ after winning the Coppa Italia quarter-final.
It was a dramatic Derby della Madonnina with goals, red cards, fights and even the referee getting injured.
“Milan are a strong side, but we proved that we are at their level. In fact, we proved that we are stronger. We hope to continue like this,” Barella told RAI Sport.
Inter eventually won 2-1 in stoppages with a Christian Eriksen free kick, but Milan had been down to 10 men since the 58th minute.
It was a second yellow card, the first awarded for Ibra’s brawl with Romelu Lukaku.
“These things happen on the pitch. It all changes once we get to the dressing room.”
The battle in the Coppa might be over, but the derby continues in Serie A with the title race.
“It’s an open race for the Scudetto, they are strong, but we want to beat everyone.”
