Stephan El Shaarawy has begun his medical tests with Roma: ‘I’m fit and happy to be back.’
The Italy international returns to the Stadio Olimpico two years after having left the capital to join Shanghai Shenhua.
The former Milan and Genoa striker has terminated his contract with the Chinese club and is set to return to Roma as a free agent.
“I am fit and happy to be back,” the 28-year-old told reporters upon his arrival at Rome’s Villa Stuart.
El Shaarawy and Roma had reached an agreement days ago, but the player had to postpone his medical checks as he tested positive for COVID and had to sel-isolate for 21 days.
His medical tests are ongoing and according to Calciomercato.com he will sign a €3.5m-a-year contract that will last two and a half seasons.
