Torino picked up a point as Andrea Belotti equalised in the 88th minute, but had played with two more for 20 minutes, plus seven minutes of stoppages, on a dramatic night in Serie A Week 20.

Referee Marco Di Bello was the protagonist and had a busy night, handing out warnings left right and centre. Nicola claimed the match ‘was broken up’ and that the Granata struggled to find their rhythm.

“The game was broken up for a long time and we didn’t play anymore,” he said. “We didn’t win. We always try to win but we have to be lucid and aware, I have seen a performance from lads who have tried.

“We can’t be satisfied, there are things to improve and I have clearly said that it’s a long way. When you struggle to keep your head, it doesn’t go hand in hand with the body and you make mistakes.”

But the coach said he saw a good performance from the home side and didn’t think Fiorentina gave them too much difficulty at the Grande Torino.

“I look at the reaction and the seven chances created against three by Fiorentina,” he said. “They didn’t put us in much difficulty, they have a precious path behind them, and they have been together for longer.

“We are aware that there’s the need to improve our timing and in the management of emotions. Potentially, we can do much more, but I have seen the attitude."
