Roberto D’Aversa admits Parma ‘can’t do worse than this’ after a 3-0 home loss to Bologna, failing to score in eight consecutive home fixtures.

The Ducali remain in penultimate place and yet again fired blanks, as the 3-0 home defeat to local rivals Bologna never seemed to be in doubt.

Although the club has been very active in the January transfer window, most weren’t ready to start, with Dennis Man and Joshua Zirkzee coming off the bench.

“We conceded the first goal from a set play and in the second there were eight of us behind the ball, yet we let it through anyway. Clearly we lack determination and need to get it back as soon as possible,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s nothing to do with the number of young players we have, because if Parma have the worst defensive record and the worst attacking record in Serie A, there must be a reason.

“When we concede two goals the way we did today, we have to take a good hard look at ourselves. Parma climbed back from Serie D with determination and hunger. Now those elements are lacking.”

It’s no secret where the problems lie, because Parma have now failed to find the net in eight consecutive Serie A home matches.

“The only positive is that we can’t do worse than this, so the only way is up. There’s no point hiding from the difficulties we face.

“After a good week of work in training, I didn’t expect a performance like this. There are 17 games to go, we are only three points off the safety zone, so we need to knuckle down. There’s a long way to go.”
