Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano said Milan ‘deserve’ to be first in Serie A but hopes ‘to give continuity’ to the win over Sassuolo.
Italiano’s men are 16th in the League and have picked up 21 points in as many games in their first season since the promotion from Serie B.
The coach admitted that the 2-1 win against the Neroverdi gave Spezia a boost at the training ground this week.
“It’s often different working after a win,” Italiana admitted at a press conference. “The atmosphere is always different from when you don’t get the results.
“We worked well, with great intensity and we prepared for such a difficult game in a peaceful atmosphere.”
Italiano admitted he would love to ‘give continuity’ to the win against 00 but praised Stefano Pioli’s men before the League leaders’ visit.
“We hope to give continuity to this win, it would be very important,” Italiano said. We know we are facing the leaders, a team in great condition, above all mentally.
“They continue to express themselves at a very high level. It’s yet another difficult match to prepare for with the utmost attention.
“They have great players, many qualities and therefor we have to be concentrated.”
He claimed the Rossoneri deserves to be first in the League after 21 games.
“I must say that in the first leg, they impressed me,” he added. “We managed to put them in difficulty in the first half, but they took over in the second.
“They deserve to be first, always play well and have quality players who express great football. I think it’s all deserved.”
