Gaetano Castrovilli somehow kept the ball in play for Dusan Vlahovic’s goal, then scored another himself before Valentin Eysseric completed the rout.
It was difficult to predict Fiorentina’s triumph after Spezia had the better of the first half, but VAR provided a turning point.
Vlahovic’s goal had initially been disallowed, but the technology confirmed Castrovilli had managed to acrobatically hook the ball back in without it completely going over the by-line.
Castrovilli then got the second goal himself, following up Cristiano Biraghi’s intercepted low cross to fire into the net.
Vlahovic generously laid off the third goal for Eysseric when Castrovilli pounced on a Neuhel Estevez error to spark the counter.
