“It means that the most important thing is that I get there by jumping,” Buffon told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s the greatest satisfaction.

“It’s the way you get there that makes the difference. I measure the width of my jumps every week, as long as it’s good, I continue.”

Juventus are back on track after a winless run of three games and the veteran admitted the Bianconeri ‘needed a win’.

“Surely, we needed the win,” he said. “The way we do it is not predictable. In the first half hour we did pretty well, the important thing is to maintain the competitive spirit and attention for 90 minutes, without making empty passes.”

Juventus leapt to third in Serie A and have one game in hand, but are still eight points behind Antonio Conte’s Inter.

Buffon admitted he’s not surprised by his former coach: “It’s certainly not a surprise. I was surprised not to see them show the quality of their coach and their squad.

“They have a value equal to ours, at least.”
