The director of the ASL health association in Turin admits Torino-Sassuolo could be postponed due to several cases of COVID in the Granata squad and with fears concerning the UK COVID variant.

According to reports in Italy, Torino have eight COVID cases in their group, with the game against Sassuolo, scheduled on Friday, at risk of postponement.

“They’re doing day-to-day tests and swabs to see if the spread of the virus is contained," Carlo Picco, the director of the ASL health association in Turin told Radio Punto Nuovo.

“There is no definitive word on this issue: to date, we are on alert for the game with Sassuolo and there is the possibility of not playing it.

“There is the theme of the UK variant circulating in Piedmont, and therefore, the tension is very high.

“If it weren’t for the UK variant, then we would not have taken this position. We’ll decide about Torino’s game tomorrow.”
