Bologna made the most of an early Ciro Immobile penalty save, as Ibrahima Mbaye and a stunning Nicola Sansone strike secured victory over Lazio.
The Biancocelesti are still feeling the effects of their Champions League heartache and it showed when Immobile’s weak and central spot-kick was smothered by Lukasz Skorupski.
Just 80 seconds later, Bologna took the lead, as Pepe Reina was only able to parry the Riccardo Orsolini effort as far as Mbaye.
Although Lazio continued to pour forward, they were repeatedly denied by Skorupski and their own poor finishing.
Instead, Sansone locked down the points with a fantastic volley, finishing off a well-worked team move with passing in tight spaces.
