“We’ve got to have the ball and know how to win it back quickly. To do this, we need a system of play that we practice throughout the week in training. I don’t know what game it’ll be against Genoa.
“I have been seeing improvements for months, so a series of consecutive defeats won’t change my mind. I know results are the most important thing and I’ve known it since I was born. I continue to see gradual improvements, but you need quality and character to push through under pressure. At times we lacked that character.”
Enrique was asked whether he believed Roma could fight back to qualify for the Champions League.
“I am convinced we can beat Genoa and the next game is always the most important. The rest does not interest me right now.”
Francesco Totti and Miralem Pjanic are out injured, while Maarten Stekelenburg pulled up during training.
“There will be 11 of us on the field. When there are injuries, red cards or bans, these things happen and must not be considered a problem for Roma. Stekelenburg only suffered a knock and should be available.”
The Serie A game with Genoa is on Monday night, as the Stadio Olimpico is in use today for the Italy-Scotland rugby match.
