The Brazilian born Italian, capped 12 times by the Azzurri, has struggled for playing time in recent years and it has not changed under new coach Thomas Tuchel.

Italy CT Roberto Mancini has previously called for Emerson to return to Italy for regular playing time and the newspaper reports his current contract expiring in June 2022 could help the Serie A giants secure an affordable deal for the left-back.

Emerson, who scored in the 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last week, has played twice in the Premier League and appeared in 13 competitive games in 2020-21.
