Benevento goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò had Juventus hero Gianluigi Buffon’s shorts from his time as a ball boy at Novara, on Sunday, he received the shirt.
Montipò, who was one of the protagonists in the 1-0 win over Juventus last weekend, admitted he has idolised Buffon since he was little and explained how he managed to get the World Cup winner’s shorts when he was a ball boy at Novara.
“At the end of the match that the Bianconeri won 4-0, I managed to get Buffon’s shorts,” Montipò told Il Corriere dello Sport.
And after the match against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, Montipò told the Juventus shot stopper what had happened nine years ago.
“I hoped to be able to meet him already in the first leg, but Gigi didn’t come to Benevento due to a slight injury,” Montipò continued.
“In Turin, after our win, I asked to meet him and it was exciting. I told him what had happened nine years earlier and he replied almost astonished, laughing about it: ‘But look here…’
“Then of course he gave me his shirt. I already have a place to display it, it had been there for some time."
