Elseid Hysaj’s agent confirms the Albania international will leave Napoli this summer as a free agent after ‘many failed attempts’ to extend his contract.

The negotiations have been going on for well over a year, but his deal is due to expire on June 30.

“Hysaj is very calm, despite the fact his contract is running down, because he knows that Gennaro Gattuso has faith in him,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He is performing at the kind of levels he hadn’t reached since Maurizio Sarri was at the club. Hysaj proved that even without a new contract, he is causing no problems and just gets on with his work.

“There are many players in Serie A who are reaching the end of their contracts, like Nikola Maksimovic or Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, but nobody doubts their commitment or professionalism.”

When asked if there is any hope of agreeing an extension at Napoli, Giuffredi was unimpressed.

“After many years and so many meetings with failed attempts to reach an agreement, it is only right that he have a change of scenery and experience new things.”

The 27-year-old has been at the Stadio San Paolo since 2015.
