Roma believe that they can finish third and qualify for next season’s Champions League, says striker Osvaldo.

The Argentine-born Italian international scored in last night’s 1-0 win over Genoa which saw the side move to within four points of third-placed Lazio.

“Of course we believe in finishing third,” the summer signing from Espanyol told Sky Sport Italia. “It wouldn’t make sense if we didn’t…”

Despite the win, Roma didn’t impress boss Luis Enrique and the forward admits there is room for improvement.

“The important thing was that we won,” added the 26-year-old. “I wanted to score as I started the New Year badly.

“Fortunately we collected the three points and we are close to the other sides chasing a place in Europe. The more games we play, the more we are finding a balance and an identity.”

Osvaldo has scored eight goals in 19 Serie A games this term.
