Serse Cosmi conceded Crotone can ‘only hope’ when they play Napoli at the Stadio Diego Maradona. ‘Football has always been able to surprise’.
Crotone sit bottom of Serie A with only 15 points from 28 games, seven points from safety and need to start picking up points straight away to have a chance of beating the drop.
There’s only 10 games remaining and the first is a trip to Naples, where Cosmi knows it’s highly unlikely they will return home with all the spoils.
“In the last period, Napoli have recomposed their squad,” Cosmi said at a press conference. “The Azzurri’s problems arise from a very long period in which [coach Gennaro] Gattuso was not able to draw on all the elements of the squad.
“In some departments he had difficulties and I think that, although the squads are well formed, you suffer in the long term when you lack decisive players.
“I fear that Napoli will be able to pick from a full squad that has many resources. I don’t know what Napoly may fear from Crotone.
“I simply say that football is not only made up of objective data, otherswise we wouldn’t have been able to achieve a result.
“Football has always been able to surprise and we can hope to achieve results by playing a great match in a great stadium.”
