Genoa coach Davide Ballardini said the point from the 1-1 draw with Fiorentina was of ‘extraordinary importance’.
Beppe Iachini made a comeback in the Fiorentina dugout and despite a disappointing affair, the Viola did well to grab a point away to Genoa.
Franck Ribery was sent off for the visitors after 51 minutes, but Ballardini, who was in charge of his 100th game with the Rossoblu, stressed the home side secured an important point too.
“It was a difficult game,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “The result was of extraordinary importance, also because we were facing a team that recently changed coach.
“The resumption of the championship is always difficult after the break. It was not a nice game, a dirty game on our part.
“From a performance point of view, we were too burdened. When you draw against a team like Fiorentina, the displeasure is limited.”
