Italy and Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri explains why Thomas Tuchel’s methods ‘can make the difference’ and refuses to rule out a Serie A return.
The 26-year-old scored his first goal of the season against Atletico Madrid last month.
“I was probably sent on just to waste some time but when I saw our players attacking, I went into the free space, thinking, ‘Will the ball come to me?' and it did. It was a very special goal,” the 26-year-old told Sportsmail.
That goal became popular also for Thiago Silva’s celebration in the stands.
“I saw Thiago coming down the stands. It was a moment of pure happiness. I was on the other side of the field, but I could hear Jorginho, Thiago and Mason Mount very happy for my goal. Thiago was screaming.”
The former Roma man had only played 598 minutes with Frank Lampard in the Chelsea dug-out, before Tuchel replaced the Blues' legend in January.
“Managers have their preferences and we have to accept it,” Emerson said.
“On the first day Thomas arrived, we saw how much he loves the details. He loves to show videos, talk a lot and concentrate on minor things that can make a difference.”
Emerson’s contract expires in June 2022 and Inter, Juventus and Roma have been linked with welcoming his services.
The 26-year-old refused to commit his long term future to the Blues. “We’ll see what happens in June,” he concluded.
