“I am recovering after a difficult experience, but I was able to see first-hand the humanity and competence of the healthcare workers in Lombardy,” Marotta told DAZN in his first interview since his hospitalisation.
“It is an experience that leaves its mark and teaches you a great deal. I was in constant contact with the club and I cannot help but be honoured by all the good wishes that were sent my way.”
What did Marotta say to Antonio Conte and the squad after he came back to the training camp?
“I congratulated them on their work. The most compliments go to Conte, a leader and winning coach. We are in an intermediary phase, we are the hare running out in front, but the hunters behind us hope to catch up.
“We must be aware that there are lots of points still up for grabs, but things are looking good.”
