Luca Gotti can’t believe Udinese lost 1-0 to Torino after missing several sitters. ‘We can’t even score in front of an open goal.’

The Friulani suffered their third consecutive Serie A defeat and the club is putting the team into a training retreat from Tuesday to prepare for the next match with Crotone.

The Friulani suffered their third consecutive Serie A defeat and the club is putting the team into a training retreat from Tuesday to prepare for the next match with Crotone.

An Andrea Belotti penalty proved the difference this evening, although Gotti was irritated by his men wasting so many opportunities.

“What we really have to take the blame for is that we can’t seem to score goals at the moment, even in front of an open goal,” the coach told DAZN.

He was referring to Nahuel Molina firing off target when pouncing on a misunderstanding between Alessandro Buongiorno and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

“We were inside the penalty area, without the goalkeeper, and still didn’t score. Yet we concede and lose a game with our goalkeeper Juan Musso never making a single save.

“It always hurts to lose, but even more so in these circumstances when the team had otherwise done so well.”

There was a curious incident when the referee awarded a free kick to Udinese on the edge of the box.

VAR confirmed the contact was inside, but when the official viewed the incident again, he decided there had been no foul.

“I didn’t see it, but it is right that the referee has all the technological support he needs to make the right decision.”
