Max Allegri links with Bayern Munich are stepping up considerably after Hansi Flick announced he ‘asked to terminate my contract at the end of the season.’
Flick won everything with the Bundesliga giants, including the Champions League and Club World Cup.
It had long been reported that Flick was eager to step down so he could take over the German national team.
“I told the team today that I informed the club during the week after the game in Paris that I would like to terminate my contract at the end of the season,” Flick told Sky Sports Germany.
German newspaper Bild had already tipped Allegri to be his replacement, although there are other candidates, including Julian Nagelsmann of RB Leipzig.
However, Allegri is a free agent after he was sacked by Juventus two years ago and would be far easier to bring in.
