Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has confirmed he’d be glad to join “great side” Roma, but the €20m price-tag could be a big stumbling block.

The Italian international is expected to leave Villarreal in the summer, as they risk relegation from La Liga.

Among those linked with a swoop are Roma, Juventus, Inter and Napoli.

“I don’t think newspaper suggestions of a €15m evaluation are accurate. It’ll take at least €20m,” agent Federico Pastorello told Paginegiallorosse.com.

“He is very close to Villarreal, but has many offers on the table from both Italian and foreign clubs. He wants to match himself against the best players and win something, but playing in the Champions League is not to be considered an obsession.

“The ideal thing would be to return to Italy, as Giuseppe considers this to be his favourite League.”

A way of combining his Liga experience with Serie A would be Roma, who are bossed by former Barcelona B Coach Luis Enrique.

“We have talked a lot about Roma with Giuseppe,” confirmed the agent.

“He really likes Luis Enrique’s philosophy. They deserve respect and are a great side, while those who currently run the club are a guarantee of success.

“I’ve known both Franco Baldini and Walter Sabatini for a lifetime and can confirm they really know their football.”
