According to The Athletic, Milan were the first of the Italian trio to buckle, leaving just Juventus and Inter.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid remained, but Barcelona had a clause allowing them to pull out without a penalty if the assembly of associates did not vote in its favour.

The project was announced only 48 hours ago, but already seems to have collapsed completely.

Sky Sport Italia are reporting the project has been formally ‘suspended’ and any official messages on the Super League Twitter account were deleted.
