There was a bizarre moment during the Champions League semi-final when PSG star Marco Verratti told Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola to ‘shut up’ in Spanish.
The incident occurred during the first leg at Parc des Princes this evening, with Paris Saint-Germain leading 1-0 at the time.
Played behind closed doors, the pitch-side microphones picked up Verratti shouting something in Spanish.
Sky Sport Italia commentators noted he said: “What do you want? Shut up!”
It’s believed he was aiming it at Manchester City boss Guardiola, who had just asked the referee to book Verratti for a tackle.
That probably was not necessary, seeing as Guardiola speaks Italian thanks to his time playing for Roma and Brescia.
Verratti is one of two Italy internationals who started the match, along with Alessandro Florenzi, plus Moise Kean on the bench.
