Lazio striker Ciro Immobile believes Lazio face a psychological problem when it comes to killing games off.
The Biancocelesti managed a 4-3 win against Genoa, but suffered more than expected as they were 4-1 up before the Grifone scored two in the final minutes and pushed for the equalizer.
“It’s the second time we drop, we could have compromised a perfect performance, we must improve under this point of view,” Immobile told DAZN.
“It’s not a physical problem because you see the lads continue to run and sprint at the end of games, it’s a psychological issue. We shouldn’t have conceded the penalty and the third goal,” he added.
Immobile has reached Silvio Piola for goals scored in a Lazio shirt.
“I’m up there, Piola made the history of this club, scoring so many goals. It’s an honour to reach him and to be linked with the best strikers of this club. I’m proud of it.”
Did he fear he could have missed the penalty given that he had fluffed the previous one against Benevento?
“Yes, a little bit, it’s normal after that you make a mistake,” Immobile admitted.
“It was important to find the net, we had to score and double the lead.”
Why was Luis Alberto laughing before Immobile took the spot-kick?
“He told me that we are not doing what we used to do last season, which is: he delivers the assist and I score.
“When the right moment comes, something happens, all the time. I could have scored today, making the most of his assist, but we had the penalty instead. At least I made an assist for him."
