Palacio has oldest Serie A hat-trick

Bologna striker Rodrigo Palacio has become the oldest ever player to score a Serie A hat-trick, aged 39 years and 86 days.

La Trenza achieved this record during the 3-3 draw with Fiorentina at the Stadio Dall’Ara this evening.

Palacio is now 39 years and 86 days old, setting a new all-time record for the Italian top flight.

The previous holder was Silvio Piola, who got his treble aged 37 years and 51 days back in 1950.

Remarkably, Palacio had scored only one Serie A goal this season before the Fiorentina match.
