“I want to go,” Lukaku reportedly told the club in a meeting, as he felt he was left out of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans at Old Trafford.
The report claims there were two key steps that unlocked his desired move to Inter and first of all a message to the sporting director of Manchester United, where the 27-year-old expressed his desire for Inter.
Lukaku used strong words, straight forward and direct words that helped unlock the move to the Giuseppe Meazza.
The English side were hoping for a swap deal with Juventus, asking for Argentine Paulo Dybala in return, according to Di Marzio.
But the second reason that secured a move for Lukaku to Inter, was the determination of coach Conte, who pushed and pushed until the deal went through.
Lukaku has since scored 61 goals in 92 games with the Nerazzurri, as he helped them to second in Serie A and the Europa League Final in his first season.
This term, his 21 goals in Serie A so far, has been one of the key factors when securing the club’s first Scudetto since Jose Mourinho left the Beneamata.
