Matteo Bassetti, head of the Infectious Diseases Clinic at San Martino Hospital in Genoa, said it would have been wiser to open parts of the stadium.
The head of the Infectious Diseases clinic spoke about the gathering of thousands of Nerazzurri fans, who flocked to the streets in Milan after Inter secured the Scudetto.
“It was largely foreseeable that this would happen,” Bassetti said, according to TMW. “Wouldn’t it have been better to have the same fans in limited numbers at the stadium to celebrate?
“There could have been 10,000 fans at San Siro, in enough space and controlled: only 15 per cent of the capacity.
“We need to put an end to the hypocrisy of forbidding sensible things, knowing that other much more risky and senseless things will certainly happen.”
